The corpse's glassy eyes twitch slightly and roll back and forth, while it makes a harsh noise in its throat. Then, in a monotone voice, it says, "Captain Clagoff is in the arena, beyond the storeroom beyond that door." A hand lifts jerkily and points towards the stairs and the door at the bottom.

It opens its mouth to answer the second question, but is cut off by first Yatagan and then Vox's quick change. The mouth hangs open for a moment and then the corpse replies, "There are many exits. The tunnel leading to the tavern. The door leading up here. The stairs leading down to the handlers and gladiators and the beast cages. The door leading to the Pack and the elevator. Doors to security and storerooms and offices and privies. Many exits."

"We've got the tavern covered. Hmmm... an elevator sounds just up Clagoff's fat, crippled alley. Perhaps we should ask about it".

Vox nods again. "Tell me everything that you know about this elevator."

The corpse twitches and then replies in the same monotone, "I have not seen the elevator. I heard it was a multi-level elevator used for transporting animals and goods back and forth between the upper arena and one below. It was shut down when it broke years ago. I heard that Clagoff had someone working on it recently, but I'm not sure, since I have not seen it. There is an entrance to the lift area below, opposite the stairs leading to the animal cages."

The corpse's eyes close and a faint wisp of smoke emerges from one nostril and swiftly dissipates.

In timely fashion, there's a sudden rise in the noise level behind the door. One of the bailiffs turns around and says quietly, "Something's going on there. I guess the games have begun."

"They're about to". Yatagan makes the Sign of the Pig, which all but robs his quip of its intended grimness. "Mr. Cadaveris, has the stealthy portion of tonight's program concluded?" The paladin hefts his new axe. Its blade is veined in disconcerting scarlet.

"Should we attack then?" asks the bailiff who spoke. "We were told to make sure that the fights had begun, and it sounds like they have." He produces a small whistle. "This will let us inform the others to move in too."

If the adventurers indicate that he should, he places the whistle to his lips and blows. There is no sound, but he nods in satisfaction and puts it away. "They're on the move. We should go in." He and his compatriot step out of the way, drawing swords as they do so, and he gestures for the adventurers to lead the attack.

"Let's end this. With honor" says Yatagan as he ejaculates onto his battleaxe. "Knights of Tre... I mean War Pigs, to battle!"

OOC: Are you guys just kicking in the door at the bottom of the stairs and rushing in, or something else? The dead guy, in case it matters, said that the area beyond is a storeroom, which has a door to the arena area.

Ah, but he was listening to someone in there, was he not? And the sound of our entry should be inaudidble in the arena itself, what with the sounds of battle.

Vox, at least, shan't stand in the way of Yatigan's charge.

Lizzy hefts his axe, "let's smash some skulls."

Yatagan grins at stout warrior-for-the-proletariat beside him. He waits a moment for the cheering for swell. "All the world's a stage, and we are merely... slayers!"

With that he charges into the storeroom.

Future generations shall speak with reverence and awe of how mightily we raided this storeroom.

Lizzy is right behind him.

Once Yatagan immortalizes this evening in his new play, they sure will!

The adventurers, led by Yatagan and Lizzy, charge through the door at the bottom of the stairs, which flies open at the twin impact of a dragonborn and dwarven boot with an accompanying crashing sound. Beyond it is a good-sized storeroom, with crates stacked against the walls, shelves lined with small boxes and other items, etc.

There seems to be nothing of particular interest here, other than the large door in the opposite wall. The loud hubbub of voices from beyond indicates that this leads to the arena.

The first attempt to bash through that door comes to nothing, as it quivers but doesn't open. Clearly it is locked and fairly sturdy, though a few chops with Yatagan's axe and especially Lizzy's larger blade should dismantle it soon.

Despite the noises on the other side, Penelope and Heyoka both hear the faint sound of startled voices right outside the door at the impact.

"Mr. Dare, can you lend us your force and fire to break down the door?"

Odanais alternately finesses the obstinate door with Scorching Bursts and Thunderwaves, while grumbling something about how crap it is that Knock takes ten freaking minutes to cast.

OOC: If Odanais suspects the door will take anywhere near ten minutes to break down, he'll cast the Knock ritual instead.

In between the decadent mage's blasts, Yatagan and Lizzie will keep up with their old-fashioned axe work.

"You know," Vox observes from well to the rear, away from the flailing axes and the blasts of flame, "I do have a set of lockpicks. And I do know how to use them. Just something to remember for the future, I suppose. You way is far more dramatic, admittedly."

"Exactly!" says Yatagan as he swings his axe while dodging a gout of flame. "We must suffer for our art".

"Furthermore, our foe is handicapped, and being men, women, and lizards of fairness, we must in good faith provide him with a running... er... floating start!"

"This will make a nicely percussive interlude," Vox admits. "Act III, Scene ii: In Which The Warriors of the Swine Duel a Door To The Death, Or At Least To Splinters."
