Ed, when you use an attack which has 2W+Str or 3W+Str, you only add your bonuses from Str, magical weapon, etc once. So Crushing Blow does 2d12+8 for you, i.e. 23 pts, but you do add 3 pts from Con (due to the power letting you add your Con bonus when using an axe) for a 26.

Odanais moves forward, shooting a sheet of flame from his outstretched arm, which burns one of the claw gnolls and sets its fur afire.

A second later, Yatagan uses his own blood (2 damage) to lend power to a blow, gaining just enough momentum to wound the same gnoll.

Vox adds to the damage, disappearing and reappearing behind the wounded gnoll and driving his blade into its back.

Penelope adds an arrow and then Lizzy steps smartly into the spot earlier vacated by Vox and drops the unfortunate gnoll to the ground in a bloody, flaming heap.

Heyoka, with no way to get to the gnolls without being attacked, rushes forward. Luckily, the attacks he takes miss and he comes up beside Vox where the fallen gnoll had stood, slashing at both the remaining claw gnoll and the spear-wielder on the other side, before moving further into the room to make space for the others.

Hax looks surprised for a moment as Vox disappears and reappears, and then he scowls as one of the gnolls falls and shouts orders. As he moves in, the gnolls swarm around Vox, hacking and slashing. The archers too focus their fire on him, clambering around on the crates to get good shots as they fire (6 dmg). As he attempts to dodge the attacks, Hax lands a brutal blow (10 dmg). The hit staggers Vox, and one of the other gnolls takes the opportunity to drive his spear into the shadar-kai's back (9 damage). The other spear-wielder stabs Vox (5 pts) and the remaining unarmed gnoll moves to attack Heyoka, but fails to strike him.

OOC: I made a mistake about the damage the one gnoll had taken, so it took Lizzy's attack to kill it. So currently the only wounded gnolls are the two spear-users (neither is bloodied).

Damage taken: Vox (38 hp), Yatagan (21 hp).

Seeing Vox fall, Yatagan composes an innuendo-laden piece of verse on the spot, exhorting Vox to shake off the 'little death' and rise up, twice as hard as before and full of the ardor, ready to pierce the foe... for a long time.

It seems these days the Dragonborn paladin is placing more faith in the power of art. He then flicks his ejaculate in the remaining claw gnolls face, followed by the business end of his axe.

"Hax! You sent Treasure to us, so I'll give one last chance. Repent and join the Order of the Pig!"

OOC: use Majestic Word on Vox, giving him a Healing Surge +8 HP and sliding him to E2 so he can't be flanked, Mark claw gnoll, strike him w/Enfeebling Strike: 30, damage: 16 (2 to Yatagan from axe)

Then with his free hand, he traces the sign of the pig, sending healing energy to Vox.

"Ow...." Vox staggers to his feet, waves a vague thanks in Yatigan's direction, and takes a moment to regain focus. Resolving not to worry about such trifles as his continued survival, he makes a leap to the top of the nearby crates and, with a flourish, attempts to plunge his blade into Hax's back.

OOC: So much for being insubstantial helping him survive...ah, well. Using Second Wind, takes him to 32 Hit Points, making Hax the target of Sidestep stance, using an Action Point to climb the crate at 3F using the movement from Deft Strike, and then stabbing that bastard Hax real good. Maybe. 22 vs. AC, 25 points of damage if that's a hit.

Ah, crap! I completely forgot that he would be insubstantial. You need to remind me about these things, since I haven't memorized 4e - yet.

Anyway, he wouldn't have been unconscious but could still use the extra healing, so let's just go with him not actually being down. He'd have been down 38 pts at the start of the round.

Lizzy hoists his blood stained axe in the air, twirls it around and growls, "Who's next motherfuckers?" Then eyeing the gnoll to the left of him he moves forward, and cleaves him, delivering 5 damage to Hax as well (unless 'adjacent' means adjacent to Lizzy and not adjacent to the enemy. In which case, I guess it's useless).

Yatagan steps in, exhorting Vox to stay on his feet (20 hp healed), and strikes the claw gnoll while again hurting himself (2 hp) for his art (or violence, as the case may be).

Odanais too aids Vox, in his case with divinely porcine energy (17 hp healed), before hurling a blast of definitely non-porky energy to strike Dax and one of the spear-wielders near him.

Vox quickly leaps through his enemies with amazing agility and onto one of the crates, before spinning around and stabbing a surprised Hax.

Lizzy moves to the spot Yatagan had just occupied and slashes at the gnoll before him, before reversing his swing to smack Hax with the haft of his weapon.

Penelope, continuing what she does best, puts a couple of arrows into the gnoll Lizzy just hit, critically wounding it.

Heyoka also moves closer to Dax, slashing him viciously, before putting paid to the badly wounded gnoll with another swing.

Despite the reverses, neither the gnolls nor Hax show any sign of quit and they focus their ire on Heyoka. One of the archers, finding him too close, jumps off the crates to the ground. Then both archers put an arrow into the shifter (29 pts).

If that were not enough, Hax stabs him viciously (20 pts), knocking him to the ground, and the remaining spear-wielder savagely stabs him (19 pts), even though Penelope snaps a shot into its shoulder in a vain attempt to prevent the attack. As Heyoka falls unconscious, the gnoll leaps down and snaps its teeth into him for good measure (10 pts).

The claw gnoll, which had been about to attack the shifter, switches its attention to Yatagan, clawing him and quickly backing away.

OOC: Your turn. Map is coming shortly.

Damage taken & status: Vox (no damage, +2 to defenses), Yatagan (31 hp), Heyoka (78 hp, i.e. at -17)

That does mean adjacent to Lizzy, but in this case Lizzy could move to a spot to have them both adjacent to him, so I put him there.

And Steve, since Odanais is 6th lvl now, when he heals someone he heals them for surge +2d6 hps. I rolled an extra d6 for you.

Ahem. Now to try something entirely new....

Sneering down at Hax, Vox makes a mock salute to him with his blade...and then back-flips away, using the force of his leap to send the crates he was perched upon tumbling down upon the hapless Hax.

OOC: Or so goes the theory. Trying to make use of good ol' page 42 in the DMG, Vox is going to use Acrobatics to send those crates down, hopefully doing a bit of damage to Hax and perhaps immobilizing him for a turn...but that's up to the GM, as is the DC. But an acrobatics check gives us...well, crap. A 15 total. Which is sufficient, actually for an easy task. Unless that's been erratted.

Yatagan advances on Hax. "I'm coming for you!" The Dragonborn raises his encrusted axe high, wincing as it bloodies him with its cruel magic. He smiles "Say, that was a bit of a pun..."

Then he stabs Hax right in the middle of his faith. With a quick flick of his tail he also revives Heyoka.

OOC: move to E4, use Invigorating Smite on Hax: 32 vs WILL, damage 26 (2 HP to self, then heal 7 HP), use Lay on Hands (Tail) on Heyoka -+7 from Invigorating Smite.
