Only Christabel sees something of humanoid shape duck back out of sight away from the balcony in the far corner of the room....

Lien is convinced that the eyes are moving in those paintings, and will walk up to one and say, "I know you're in there. You're always in there. If you don't speak to us, I'm going to slash you apart.

"No. Even worse. I'm going to repaint over you with a painting of dogs playing poker. There's no more horrible fate to a painting than being trapped for all eternity behind a tacky painting."


(Somewhere, in the wilds of the Port, Heyoka briefly feels a twinge of hurt, as if he heard someone make fun of his cherished painting of his family playing cards together).

OOC: Are there any stairs or any other way of getting to the balcony from inside the room?

When Christabel mentions what she saw, Artichoke says quietly, "Let's leave this room and go up the stairs. Chances are they lead up to the balcony. Maybe we can find out who - or what - is lurking up there."

If nobody disagrees he proceeds to exit and head for the stairs, making sure to give Yatagan and his stomachful of swords a wide berth as he does so.

It's a spiral staircase, wide enough for two men to walk abreast -- so barely wide enough for Yatigan, if he keeps to the center. The stairs make a full circle up to the second floor where...
