Homily steps behind Web'r, but that's as far as she goes. Then she lays a tiny hand upon the back of Web'r's knee (healing 2 points of damage -- he's now at 4 HP).

Pogsley turns in the direction that Asura disappeared in and screams, "Hey, big bug, we got evil people over here for you to eat!!!"

Pogsley's threat-prayers elicit no response from the sacred grove, however the reminder of the massive entity freed from Ivorium's dungeon give the archers serious pause, not to mention the crowd starting to form of villagers who worship it. Who also have spent the last several hours drinking alcohol. The bowmen stop firing, shifting to covering stances, two arrows trained on Web'r, one on Pogs. A sleepy looking Beard appears in the inn door, a pointed hat perched on his head and something grasped tightly in his left hand.

You hear the sound of heavy doors being thrown open behind the trader's post, from the direction of their stables. Three riders ride out to the road. It's the taller trader, another man-at-arms, and an unarmed servant.

The trader takes stock of the situation, his gaze settling for a moment on the vomit-stained outline lying at Web'r feet, then shifting to the now quite wizardly-looking Beard. Then he spurs his mount and rides away south. His two men follow.

OOC: the archers automatically lose initiative. You can roll init against the riders, if you like -- the riders get a 3. Your horses are behind the inn in its stables.

A few of the drunks who watched the fight shout, "'They're strangers. Not from the village", conveniently, or perhaps drunkenly, forgetting neither are you.

While the archers are confused now that their employer has ridden off into the night, Beard the Sage throws a handful of sand in the air. The men drop to ground, asleep.

"I doubt they hate our 'bug friend', as you put it, Master Pogsley. I suspect they are simple men-at-arms, hired by the Brawley bothers to guard the trade post. Though... " he pauses as he walks over to the body of your partially-invisible assailant, "You might want to ask him -- he prods the body tentatively with a boot tip-- for clarification."

Beard casts another spell.

"I should think that one's Gremag Brawley. He has several items of note upon his person. They're yours by right of combat. How was it you came to blows with him? Not that I object. In the slightest."

OOC: you now have 3 sleeping men-at-arms, and one beaten-up murderer. What do you do w/them?

"Yes, sir" she says solemnly. While she doesn't touch Gremag's person, she does squint hard at each item Web'r finds.

These items are: a short sword whose blade is engraved with elven runes, a needle-bladed dagger with a fat cylindrical pommel, a shirt of incredible light elven chain mail, and a partially full silk pouch marked with another elven rune. Gremag also has a "utility belt" with standard roguish implements, a garotte, and bandages/medicinal herbs. He's not carrying a coin purse.

"That dagger, it's kinda... bad" she says. "A little."

As you strip him of goods, he re-materializes. Web'r notices something odd, given his proximity; he's wearing heavy greasepaint makeup to whiten his complexion. Where it wiped off, he's somewhat darker skinned, almost green.

OOC: and congratulation on not dying! You really should have! You fought a well-equipped higher level assassin while drunk and in civvies.

Beard the Sage offers to identify the items he suspects are magical at cost in the morning, ie 100 gp per item for the pearl(s) he'd need to eat.

Now what? Is there anything else you'd like to do here before heading back to the Port? Are you taking your prisoners?

Also -- any idea what you're going to do when you get back to the Port? Telling me will help me plan for Friday...

ooc: Well, we'll need to visit Asura and the Dryad Sisters one last time before we leave. Once back in the Port, Pogsley will take to the street in a variety of clever disguises to cajole from his seedy contacts any lowdown about the guild of the Rat King, particularly any known hangouts of the Rosimund's beau betrayer Saint Grace and the King himself.

OOC: Web'r plans to visit the guild, get some training, perhaps get his sword reforged -- or switch his weapon specialization, if that's possible with his training. Oh, and he'll need to set up proper accommodations for Homily.

Not much point in taking the prisoners, to Web'r's point of view. Except perhaps the assassin. It's to be assumed that Master Pogsley will be interrogating them, breaking them down in his own unique way to get information out of them.

That is, after all, what he does.

In the morning, you get things sorted before leaving Green Bay. According to some milkmaids, Mayor Yaekob and his yeomen fled town at dawn without saying a word. By hastily-taken vote, Beard the Sage is named the new mayor, probably because a few drunks witnessed him knock three archers out with magic. The assassin Gremag is all trussed up, awaiting the tender electrical ministrations of the bird electrocutor.

Homily's packed and ready to go. Her parents say little. From the town scuttlebutt you gather the little girl was disliked, being seen as both a witch and a scold.

Mayor Beard identifies the items you got from Gremag at cost (he'll gladly accept some of the small Ivorium statues as payment).

OOC: short sword +2, elven chain mail +2, dagger of venom, pouch with 1 pinch of dust of disappearance.

Before you ride away, or walk away atop the mighty walking chair, you present yourselves before Ashura and her two tiny handmaidens in the sacred grove.

"Hello again!" they chirp in unison. "Thank you so much for reuniting us with our egg. We mean our mistress, Most Holy Ashura. She wishes you well."

"My green bride..." says the other person in Father Benignus.

"Oh hello to you too, Ivorium-father. Please come live with us when you are no longer unnatural!" they says sweetly, with the slightest air of disapproving menace.
