(OOC: Just as well I missed last turn, by the way. Positioning Strike is melee only.... Howw far is Vox from the door that Clagoff is escaping through? I have a plan, but I need some specifics first.)

They've been moving at about the same speed as the PCs (slightly faster, in fact, since less people got in their way or attacked them), plus the PCs have to move around the pit, so they're currently 40 ft away from Vox and about 60 ft from the others.

Can Yatagan get close enough to the mage producing the disk to hit him w/Radiant Delirium?

Having discarded his mantra in favor of a string of truly foul obscenities, Vox begins to move through the crowd once more, moving with an almost supernatural grace as he leaps, somersaults, and pirouettes around, over, and sometimes under the mob. He makes a bold leap to carry him the last several feet, drawing his sword in mid-air and slashing at Clagoff's attendant....

(OOC: Right, then. Take a move action, using Acrobatics again to ease movement through the crowds....

Acrobatics: 32

...and then use Deft Strike to move the remaining 10' and attack the wizard.

25 vs. AC, 27 if he has combat advantage.
11 points of damage, 20 if he has CA.)

No. Yatagan wouldn't be able to make it even in open terrain (move 5 + range 5 = 50 ft, and he's at 60), and he's currently got enemies in the way and some of the area between them is difficult terrain.

What if I spend an Action Point for an extra move (and maybe make an Intimidate or Athletics check to clear the way)?

I'm loath to let people spend APs or dailies in what's mostly a skill challenge, partly because you will definitely need them soon. But if you want to I'll let you use them (and yes, an AP would let you get close enough).

Note that doing so would mean Yatagan eats an OA from the attacking guard on the way, and he's also fairly certain that he's not going to be able to drop the mage with Radiant Delirium. Vox hit the mage with his attack (for 11 hp), and even with the damage he took from Penelope's attacks he's not even close to bloodied.

It would Daze him until the end of Yatagan's next turn, even on a miss. Which means he could either move the disk, or himself, but not both.

True. Unless he has an AP too. Or ... well, let's just say there are other options for him and his allies too.

Not that I'm dissuading you, of course Wink

Fine, fine... let's say the Crotch God whispers some sweet foresight into Yatagan's, well, crotch and he refrains from dashing through the crowd and hawking radioactive phlegm at Clagoff's mage.

Instead, Yatagan barrels at his nearest bipedal obstruction, spits some poison onto an already semen-covered axe, and bellows "Who wants a face full of this?!", doing a spot-on, though completely unintentional impression of a gay half-orc stevedore who once attempted to cruise him in the Stagger, who Yatagan assumed was trying to engage him in a friendly debate over comparative religion.

OOC: move, Intimidate: 23 (Yatagan is saving all his bloodshedding for Clagoff and his inner circle.

Good explanation. I should use that more often, come to think of it, since I usually don't want to have you guys using up resources uselessly and ending up screwed because of it. Usually.

Odanais makes the sign of the pig to heal himself, then shouts out, "Ladies and gentlemen, we have been tipped off that Claggoff plans to flee the city immediately so that he can skip out on paying all of the bets he made this evening. Even now, that fat capitalist exploiter is carrying YOUR hard-earned cash out the door in his sparkly--and very expensive--floating magic disc! I say, grab that Tiefling chauffer of his before she gets any farther, then clear us a path, and we'll make certain he is brought to justice and pays his dues to all of us."

Bluff = 23.

Not possessing many other skills besides archery, Penelope decides to keep on doing what she does best. After spending a moment debating whether or not to try attacking the Tiefling again, she prepares to fire twice as the closest enemy instead, hoping that may intimidate some of the hostile folk.

OOC: 17 vs. AC for both. If that hits, 7 & 5 dmg.

Yatagan continues to yell challenges as he rushes through the crowd and most of those in front of him fall away, especially now that it seems clear that this is not only an official raid but more bailiffs are coming.

Behind Yatagan, Lizzy cuts down the orc facing him with a swipe of his greataxe. Near Lizzy, Heyoka has less luck, his obdurate assailant clinging to him and stabbing the shifter again as he vainly tries to shake him off.

Penelope too seems to have trouble hitting her foes, but her firing into the melee does seem to clear the way a bit.

Vox, some distance ahead of the others, leaps adroitly through the crowd and assails the wizard. The tieflin reflexively casts a spell, calling up a shield of force the way Odanais often does, but he can't keep the shadar-kai from slashing his arm.

Odanais, perhaps inspired by the Pig-blessed healing he bestows on himself, switches to verbal help, yelling to the crowd that Clagoff is making off with their money. This clearly gets through to some people, a number of them turning and rushing towards Clagoff's group.

Seeing them coming, Clagoff swears and spits at the closest adventurer, namely Vox. "You damn swine! You won't stop me!" He gestures at his guards, "Kill him!" before reaching out and grabbing his mage by the shoulder. "Come on!" He literally pulls the man off his feet, giving Vox a free attack which pierces the man's side, and shoves him through the door. The wizard, holding his bloody side, gestures and Clagoff's disk slides through after him. As it does, someone waiting on the other side (presumably Hax) slams the door and there's the sound of a falling bolt.

The three guards left behind loyally cover their leader's retreat and turn their blades on Vox, managing to lightly wound the shadar-kai, but are overrun in seconds by civilians clamoring for their money and/or trying to prove that they are on the law's side, as well as the other adventurers.

As access to the door is being cleared, there's a roar and screams from the direction of the pit, as the wounded owlbear makes its appearance at the top. There are further sounds of fighting below and more growls, indicating that at least one more animal has broken free. Guards and spectators flee from the pit, and the bailiffs who have begun to enter the area attempt to both block off the exits and form a defensive line to deal with the beast.

The two bailiffs who accompanied the adventurers also turn in that direction, one of them shouting, "We'll handle the situation here. Go after Clagoff and bring him back - dead or alive! Lord Dandy said we should leave him to you!" He quickly salutes and then both of them head cautiously towards the owlbear.

Which leaves the League/Troupe/Knights/Company facing another locked door.

OOC: That's a total of 4 more successes and 2 failures, making it 11 successes and 7 failures. The skill challenge is over, with you guys having a partial success, i.e. you've slowed down Clagoff enough to be able to catch him when you get through the door but are on your own. Also, you're fully healed when you get through the door, but Heyoka, Odanais, Lizzy and Vox are down one healing surge each.

"Indeed I did," Vox replies placidly, producing a set of lockpicks. He works quickly, efficiently, and rather more smugly than is strictly necessary.

(OOC: Thievery 24)
