Initiative: 19 [13 + 6]

Odanais attempts Thunderwave at the wraith that attacked him, hopefully pushing him three squares away [a6 if it was w1; e11 if it was w3]. He then shifts to G5, seeking cover behind the rocks.

To hit (fort): 10 [3+7]
Damage: 11 [6+5]

Save (vs. weakness): 22 [19 +1 +2]

OOC: On the plus side, the bloodthread waistcoat bloodied Odanais is wearing now kicks in giving him +2 to his AC.

OOC: shil, Yatagan's going to use Mettle on Penelope at the end of his 1st turn (grants her a save before the start of her next turn). He's got a Move action left.

The mad wraith's aura means Yatagan was dazed when his turn began, so he could only take a standard, move or minor action. Since he attacked with Holy Smite and missed, he has no move or minor actions left that turn.

OOC: Ah... forgot about the Dazed part.

Barring an attack from the wraith that discombobulates him, fleet-leaking Yatagan will furiously attack his foe, roaring out a prayer for Penelope's well-being if need be.

OOC: use Divine Strength, use Holy Strike -to hit: 16 damage 21, use Mettle on Penelope, use Gauntlets +5 damage if hit (free action). -- I assume you need to declare the use of Divine Strength before you roll to hit, since it takes a minor action?

Vox allows hmself to fall backwards into shadow, and drop out of the air perched atop a stalagmite. He lashes out with his rapier, and then backflips away from the Wraith to land a dozen feet away.

"Retreat might be in order," he opines, looking a little desperate.

(OOC: Great day to be away from the computer, I see....

Initiative: 12
Shadow Walk to E9, Use Deft Strike at +25 vs. AC for 13 points of damage, and retreat to E10. I assume that draws an AoO, but he should get staglamite coverage, his "artful dodger" bonus, and the benefit of being Insubstantial until the beginning of his next turn.
)

Would now be a good time for L to show up and turn undead?

Not sure how that works off hand in 4e or how to use the die roller.

Yes, please! One order of cleric to go!

Dice roller is below the send button when you post. You can indicate how many dice and what kind. Hit the plus sign for additional die rolling.

Nah. That would be a little too hokey for me. These guys got themselves into this, so let's see if they can get themselves out.

Penelope carefully moves away, so as not to give the wraiths a free attack, and then shoots at the quarry she marked earlier.

OOC: Shift to C7 and then use Nimble Strike, shifting to D6 or B6 (away from wherever W1 is) and shooting at W3 again. Crits it (damage 9 due to weakness). Fails to save.

Her armor protects against necrotic damage, so she takes 5 less from each hit.

Penelope moves away safely, again shooting a wounded wraith, but the combination of her weakness and the creature's insubstantial nature means the arrow barely hurts it. Odanais has even less success, his burst of magic completely failing to affect the wraith he targeted. Vox has more success, stabbing the insubstantial creature and safely making it away.

One wraith goes after Penelope, striking her even though her armor protects her mostly from the attack (3 pts damage after resistance). The other two gang up on the unfortunate mage, clawing and ripping at Odanais, until he collapses in a heap. Even worse, the wraiths' wounds begin to close as the torn shadows reform. The adventurers know that only radiant attacks can prevent this regeneration as long as the wraiths are alive, but only Yatagan's attacks are blessed in this way.

And Yatagan is having no success, the maddening whispers affecting him (5 damage + dazed) as he swings vainly at the mad wraith. The tiny saving grace is that the mad wraith has no greater success at striking him. It's not clear whether it's a positive or not, but he also begins to feel a warmth in his crotch, where the god-in-the-box is ensconced.

OOC: Initiative & damage taken - Penelope (17 dmg; weakened), Odanais (36 dmg + weakened), Vox, Wraiths, Yatagan (10 dmg; dazed)

Penelope can save vs. the weakening at the end of her turn.

Odanais is down and at -1 hp, so he has to make a death save on his turn (plus vs. the weakness). He is currently at a +3 on saves due to his feat and armor, so he doesn't get worse if he rolls a 7 or higher, and actually revives (using a healing surge to get to 8 hp) if he rolls 17 or higher.

P.S. Remember, you guys have action points.

Now, let's slow down here a second.... are these jokers by any chance attacking my AC and/or Reflex? Because I've got that Shield thingy that kicks in and boosts my AC. Any chance that helped with either of the hits?

They're attacking Reflex, but sadly, with those high rolls, they'd hit even if you used Shield.

BTW, since I'm allowing people to blow an AP to use a healing surge, that's an option for you too. Also, since you can use a DC 10 Heal check as a standard action to allow someone to use their Second Wind, someone like Vox or Penelope could move to Odanais and do that, and still make an attack by spending an AP. And with a +9 bonus, Penelope would automatically succeed at it. She'd draw an OA, but her armor protects nicely from necrotic damage. Feeling generous, Penelope?

Death Save: 17+ 3 = 20 (woo hoo! back from the dead!)

Weakness Save: 2 + 3 = 5 (but I'm weakened...)

So... are these guys still chewing on me like a plate of buffalo wings or are they satisfied with their kill and moving on?

"Have faith!" shouts Yatagan, "I feel the god stirring!" With renewed zeal, he strikes at the ravening shadow.

OOC: using Holy Strike, to hit 26, damage 21. shil, can I use a free action while Dazed to activate his Gauntlets of Ogre Power, for another +5 damage? Also, can you use an Action Point when Dazed?

They're still flanking you, but since you go first, you could always stand (move action) and shift (move action) in one round to get your self out of the flank. Or do that and use an AP to thunderburst them away too. Or some other spell (Sleep works on undead in 4e, and you do get a +3 to attacks when using an AP), if you prefer. Or you could stand, shift and AP your Second Wind, which would get you up to 16 hp and give you a +2 to all defenses, stacking with the +4 from Shield when you use it.

Yes on both counts.

One question - is the 21 damage including the 5 pt vulnerability to radiant damage that undead have?

Yup.

Since things are looking dire, Yatagan will spend an Action Point and smack the wraith again. No time like present, especially when it looks like we're about to become late.

Yatagan will also direct a question to the god-in-the-box "Oh Divine One, do you want out of my codpiece?"

OOC: Holy Strike again, to hit 26 damage 13
